We recommend starting with low-altitude tours on your first day to acclimatize properly.
18. How can I avoid altitude sickness?
Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol on the first day, eat light meals, and rest. Our guides are trained to monitor altitude-related symptoms.
19. Are high-altitude tours suitable for seniors?
Many seniors participate successfully. However, tours above 4,000 meters are not recommended for people with heart, respiratory, or blood pressure conditions.
20. Can children join the tours?
Yes, children can join most tours. Some high-altitude tours have minimum age requirements for safety reasons.

Lagoons and climate

21. Can you swim in the altiplanic lagoons?
Swimming is only allowed in some lagoons, such as Laguna Piedra on the Cejar tour and the Hidden Lagoons of Baltinache. In other protected lagoons, swimming is not permitted in order to preserve the ecosystem.
22. What clothing should I bring?
We recommend layered clothing, warm jackets, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Temperatures vary greatly between day and night.
23. What are the daytime and nighttime temperatures?
Daytime temperatures range between 15°C and 25°C (59–77°F). Nights can drop below 0°C (32°F), especially in winter.
24. Does it rain in San Pedro de Atacama?
Rain is rare, but during the summer months there may be occasional rainfall in the high-altitude areas.
