The adventure begins with an early departure from San Pedro de Atacama at approximately 7:00 a.m. by vehicle, traveling along International Route 27-CH toward Paso Jama, surrounded by impressive Altiplano landscapes. We will drive up to an altitude of around 5,200–5,300 meters above sea level, near the astronomical antennas, where the hike begins. From there, we start a 2 to 3-hour ascent along clearly marked trails, with scheduled stops for acclimatization and pace control, accompanied by a specialized guide. Upon reaching the summit of Cerro Toco at 5,604 meters above sea level, you will be rewarded with breathtaking 360° panoramic views, including the majestic Licancabur Volcano, Laguna Verde, the Salar de Atacama, and the vastness of the desert, all within an atmosphere of silence and absolute beauty. The descent follows the same route or a nearby gully and is faster, taking approximately 1 hour, after which we return to San Pedro. This tour is designed with a strong focus on safety and acclimatization; therefore, it is recommended that participants spend at least two days in San Pedro de Atacama beforehand. The tour includes continuous guidance, physical monitoring, and basic mountain equipment support.
