Full-day tour. We pick up passengers and head east along the international Route 27 CH, which leads to the Argentine border at the Jama Pass. About half an hour after departure, we’ll stop at the Licancabur Volcano viewpoint, the most spectacular and emblematic volcano of San Pedro de Atacama. Here, we’ll have breakfast with a privileged view of the volcano and the Atacama Salt Flat.
We will then continue to the Quepiaco Bofedal, a nesting area for various Andean birds and a grazing zone for vicuñas, among others. Next, we’ll proceed to the Caldera La Pacana region, one of the world’s mega volcanoes. Here you will find the Monks of Pacana—natural totems standing 60 meters tall, formed by volcanic eruptions millions of years ago and sculpted by the elements of the high plateau—a truly spectacular place.
After this, we’ll visit the largest salt flat on our route, the vast Salar de Quisquiro, the closest point to Argentina on the tour.
Around midday, we’ll begin our return trip, stopping at the Aguas Calientes Dos viewpoint, the Salar de Tara viewpoint, and Laguna Diamante.
We’ll return to San Pedro de Atacama at approximately 3:00 PM, where lunch will be served in town.
